I am constantly amazed by all the great mother's in my life. My own mother, of course, (she's the best woman I know) but also all the other mothers I know and respect: my mother-in-law, my sister and sister-in-law, and my friends who are mothers. The way they love, sacrifice, endure, teach, listen, give, and all the countless other little day-to-day things that I can't even imagine in this stage of my life. The only day-to-day maternal practice I get these days is on my cat Cubby and my plants. They're all still alive (mostly), so I think I've got this in the bag. But seriously. If my plant-raising skills are a reflection of my future motherhood... Yikes. All joking aside, I am so in awe of these superhero women who do, what seems to me, the impossible daily.
One of these superhuman moms (and a close friend of mine) is Nicole. She and her husband have two beautiful daughters (Scarlett–7 months and Evie–2 and a half, I believe) that are impossibly adorable. I was so stoked when Nicole asked to do a Mother's Day shoot. It was so special for me to be able to do this shoot as I've done kind of a lot of milestone shoots for them: maternity, birth photos in the hospital (she's a CHAMPION), Christmas card photos, extended family shoots... To me, this shoot kind of felt like a full-circle culmination of Scarlett's entrance to the world and they turned out SO sweet.
